We will vaccinate your child, but the cost of the vaccine itself is not part of membership fees and must be paid for separately. If your child does not have insurance or has Medicaid, vaccines will be paid for through the Vaccines for Children program.
If your child has insurance, we will file your insurance in one of the following ways:
1) We will prescribe the vaccine to Triangle Pharmacy, who will provide the vaccine to Nurturing Pediatrics and file under your pharmacy benefits OR
2) We will obtain the vaccines through VaxCare, who will provide the vaccine to Nurturing Pediatrics and bill your health insurance OR
3) We will work together for the most cost-effective solution if neither of the above options works
Vaccines have made a lot of a general pediatrician’s skills and knowledge obsolete— and that’s a great thing!
Nurturing Pediatrics is happy to discuss your questions or concerns about vaccines AND requires that children be immunized to North Carolina school requirements to remain a patient in this practice (children with medical exemptions are an exception).
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has a wonderful Vaccine Education Center, which has great and easy-to-understand articles about the recommended vaccine schedules (shown below), altered vaccine schedules, information about all the diseases we for which we have vaccines, vaccine ingredients and why they are there, and so much more!
